| What do you think is architecture and what do architects do? | | Well, from past many days after completing my architectural degree, I was just thinking what do people expect from an architect? What do they think? And would you even get any of your project to an architect? Here I am talking about a person who is a professional in designing buildings and finance related to it and many other aspects. What are you views? | | Landscape architecture | | I am a freshly graduated landscape architect and I would love to meet people who know anything about this job or its corolaries: architecture, gardening, design, etc.
I'm very interested if there's someone else here that work in these domains and how this job is regarded throughout the world and what do you think is the most important thing when you design: the aspect, the utility? Also, what projects have you designed or paticipated in? Competitions of any kind?

| | help please. architecture.? | | I am in my Final year of architecture. I have completed my architectural training from a small firm dealing with small houses only. Later i came to know the person whom i was working with is not having a B.arch degree. Also he was paying me a very less amount 3000 Indian rupees per month. I used to come to office at 10:30 in the morning and stay there till 9:30 at night. Now i want to get my Certificate from him. He says me to design the certificate and training report and he will put his stamp and sign wherever necessary. How can I complete these tasks. And i feel a bit duped when my batch mates at the same time are making 15000 rupees per month in other firms, doing bigger better projects, place for only one trainee, certificate and training report presented at the end by the companies. I don't WANT TO WAIT TILL THE END OR RELY ON MY FRIENDS FOR THE TRAINING REPORT. IS THERE ANY WEBSITE ONLINE THAT CAN HELP ME. I HAVE VERY LESS TIME. | |

| | Have you seen any ancient sites or attractive architecture? | | I went to Central America in 2006 when I had a wonderful time seeing the Mayan ruins in Tikal National Park. One day I would love to go to Peru to see Machu Picchu. I love to see old buildings that look lovely. My favorite building is the Sydney Opera House. It looks like white sails and it such unusual architecture. Europe is has much historical architecture that I really like. Have you seen any ancient sites?

| | What sort of architecture do you like? | | I really like thatched cottages and Tudor building that are half timbered in my home country. In Germany I like the half timbered houses and the majestic looking castles. I enjoy seeing wooden chalets with attractive window frames. I like seeing rustic looking beach huts on tropical beaches. Thinking of famous buildings I love Sydney opera house because it looks like sails. Most of all I like the traditional buildings in Samoa called fales. It is an open buildings on stilts with a thatched roof. Does you home country have any lovely looking architecture?
