Talk about the Ash music that you love here!| Ash Cloud and Flying | | Just thought I'd start a discussion on the ongoing travel chaos that has hit our airline industry over the last few weeks with the volcanic ash cloud. I know as far as I am concerned I'm not worried about flying still? How does everyone else feel about it?
| | Volcanic Ash - Air Travel Chaos - Has this affected you? | | Personally my mother was due to fly over from Spain to the UK on the 16th of April which they were unable to do as all air travel was cancelled and they were delyed by a week which worked well as they arrived on the 23rd instead which meant they were here the week of my birthday. Unfortunately my younger daughter had booked her first holiday abroad with friends for 17th but whole holiday was cancelled is still waiting for a full refund although has been given some back. She rebooked which was great as she could get to see her nanna and papa for the 8th May but this was again cancelled due to the volcanic ash. No refund as yet and as I knew she really needed a break her father put another holiday on his credit card, she managed to fly off on the 10th no problem, however she then foundshe couldn't get home again due to ash cloud. Is now safely back in UK. I have heard so many sad stories about people missing passing out parades or weddings etc. How has this affected you or people you know. Do you think the airlines were being over cautious or is ash cloud a very serious poble,? Thoughts please:) Ellie | |
| | | | the volcanic ash is landing | | well,a bit of it anyway,we woke up this morning to find a fine layer of the ash on our cars, then at the supermarket we found more cars with it on,hopefully it'll disperse from the skys and everything will get back to normal, coz having my boyfriend off work is driving me insane | |
| | Are you stuck somewhere due to the volcanic ash in northern europe airways? | | I am currently supposed to be wrapping up my Swedish vacation, however, it appears as though it might be more extended than I thought it would due to this volcanic ash in the airways. I am a bit disappointed because my job is going to hate me (as I already took 2 weeks off for this), and because I ran out of money and honestly would just rather be HOME. But this is something out of my, or anyone's control. It's mother nature. Do you ever find yourself getting mad at SOMEONE for these things - even though it's clearly not their fault?Have you heard any updates on the news as to when the ash will go away and we all can fly again?Do you have any predictions as to how to long it will take? And are you currently stuck somewhere because of the situation? | |
| | Has the Volcano ash cloud from Iceland affected you in anyway. | | Today airspace over the UK and most of Europe has been completely closed down due to a volcano errupting in Iceland. This has obviously affected thousands of people. There are fears that that the ash could cause engines on planes to shutdown, hence why the airspace has been closed, no planes flying at all.
This is the first time I have ever heard of this happening.
Have any myLotters heard of this happening before and has this affected you in any way. ie holidays delayed, buisness meetings delayed etc.It would be very interesting to know.
| | | Someone has been gunned down yesterday, Ash Wednesday | | and in church. It pained me to hear the news about an ex-mayor gunned down by 2 unidentified men in motorcycle immediately after the mass. While in church, the ex-mayor was with his wife, kid and a 7 year old grandchild. The ex-mayor was nearing his car, about to open the driver's seat when the wife heard something like firecracker and the wife commented how can someone throw firecrackers in such a crowded place, then another sound, then she saw her husband slowly falling on the ground realizing her husband had been hit, clung to him, shocked till people came to their rescue, brought the husband to the hospital to be announced DOA. Violence even in sacred places as churches...even when gun ban is implemented during these Philippine election times,,,even in very crowded places, how can the perpetrators of the crime seem not to be scared doing this in the open, Is there still respect for our men in uniforms, is there still respect for the government, is there still respect for the law...is there still respect or even just pity for the one and only "life" everyone of us struggles to have?.....we can only shake our heads in disgust and suffer in silence and hope and pray this will... | |
