Talk about the Camper Van Beethoven music that you love here!
What you think about Skinheads?
Beuty right?=DDD
Do you know David Lowery?
David Lowery is an American guitarist, vocalist and songwriter, the founder of two alternative rock bands: camper van Beethoven and Cracker.Born in Texas on September 10, 1960, Lowery attended high school in Redlands, California. Lowery formed camper van Beethoven in Santa Cruz, CA. The band is best known for their song "Take the Skinheads Bowling" from the band's 1985 debut LP, Telephone Free Landslide Victory, later featured in the Michael Moore movie Bowling for Columbine. In the early 1990's, Lowery formed Cracker with guitarist and long-time friend Johnny Hickman. Cracker rejected the roots-rock sound of camper van Beethoven in favor of a more traditional rock sound. Cracker released its eponymous L.P. in 1992 but its biggest hit was 1993's "Low" from Kerosene Hat. Cracker continues to perform today to a loyal following of fans, although Lowery has also reformed camper van Beethoven which released an interesting cover of the entire Fleetwood Mac album Tusk in 2002.Lowery has also done work as a...
French maniac camper van on Greek road. I almost understand road rage now!
This afternoon I was heading up to town, an hour's drive away. To get there the road traverses a mountain with the sea on one side. The road is has very sharp bends and us local drivers know where the best places are to overtake if we get stuck beind something going slow. There is only a short window of opportunity to overtake as the next bend will be close by. Greek drivers are maniacs and overtake with much more daring than I would. Today I was stuck behind a French camper van going at the usual tourist speed of 30 kms an hour and admiring the view. With oncoming traffic I was stuck there for a while till the chance came to overtake. I indicated and speeded up to 70 to pass it. So did he. He speeded up to 70 going uphill before the bend when for the last 15 minutes he'd been quite content to amble along at 30. This situation was VERY dangerous as he was beside me and the next bend was coming up. My language was choice. No matter how bad Greek driving can be NO ONE does this on our roads, the number of accidents make this no laughing matter. For the first time ever I understand what can provoke road rage.
We're setting off tomorrow for our camper van tour around France
I rented a Camper Van and my wife, two boys and I are going to drive around France looking at all the cool stuff and staying in camp grounds or wherever we want. Most everyone thinks it's a great idea but I wonder if it'll actually be as great as it sounds. Anybody else take a Camper Van vacation? Where? What did you do? What was it REALLY like?
Would you like to have camper van?
I would really like to have a camper van one day. Most of all I think it would be nice to own one then take it around Europe every summer. At other times of the year I would take it away for weekends to a beach or to a field in the countryside. If I hired one for a holiday I think it would be great to have one for two weeks in South Africa. I would see cape Town, the pretty garden route and go on a safari to the exciting Kruger National Park. I would need four berths, one bed for each of my family. Would you like to have a camper van? How many berths (beds) would you need for your family? Where would you take the camper van if you had one? What would you have inside the camper van? A shower? Thanks.
can a family do this do you think?
ok we home school and we love it. i really think it is the best thing for us. we have a small camper and we are thinking of selling it and getting an old bus and making it into a 2 bedroom camper with stove, shower, etc. well they put our place that we live up for sale. no one has bought it but you never know when it is going to happen. me and hubby already know that whenthe kids leve home we are moving into a camper and seeing the states. we talked to a guy that he and his wife did that when there kids were about my kids ages. they home schooled and just did it on the road. the kdis heard them talkigna botu it and they want to do it lol. me and hubby have talked about it but not really sure. i mean how would we make money? what set up camp 3 months at a time and just keep changing jobs. find a place online to make enough lol yea right. we know we are goign to have to move soom more then likely so we are really thinking abotu this. maybe for a year or so and let the kids see the states and learn that way but still do school work too. what are yoru thoughts. i mean how could we make money. we dont want to be like hillbillies etc but retired people do it why not with kids. we home...
People that achieve their dreams
In a lifetime a person might dream of achieving some things. Like he or she might wish to do well at school. Then he or she might dream about going into a particular career. Sometimes a teenager isn't certain what career he or she wants to go into. Some people have dreams that are easier to reach than others. Like have a baby is easier than go to the moon. A lady could try to get pregnant but she wouldn't be able to get a trip to the moon. Have you got any dreams for the future? Are some easy to achieve and are others way too challenging? My dreams:1. Travel around the world. I managed that when I was 20 to 21 years old2. Buy a house. I did that when I was 19 years old. 3. Have children. I now have three of those. 4. Pass my practical driving test. I finally managed to do that earlier this year. 5. Get a camper van. 6. Buy a summer house. I hope to do that this year.
a unique case with a unique set of circumstances
59-year-old brian thomas & his wife took a holiday in their camper van. they stopped for the night in a car park when they were disturbed by a rowdy crowd of young people in screeching cars. later in the night, he called the police to make a report saying that he was dreaming that intruders (thoseboy racers) were in the van & that he attacked one of the intruders (only to realize that theintruder was his own wife).he admittedkilling his wife in their camper van, but blamed hisrare sleep disorder. he wasreleased by the judge saying that hebore no responsibility for the killing & described him asa decent man & a devoted husband.[em]whistle[/em]can you imagine a loving husband kill his wife of 40 years while asleep?[em]sad[/em] what's your view over this unque & unusual case?[em]rolleyes[/em]source: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/wales/8370237.stm
