them for a couple of minutes the cab driver asked,
"You men Harvard graduates?"
"Yes Sir! Class of '99!" they answered proudly.
The cab driver extended his hand back to shake their

I find that when I have a computer with me I am always constantly surfing the web, checking my e-mail, clicking my PTCs and myLotting. I still try and take notes but I give the class about 30% of my attention. I get by in school. I should try harder and excel. | How to controll students in the class makes me puzzled. | | Since I graduated from university, I have been teaching English in senior high school. What's more, my school is the key high school in our province. I always believe that the students will be obedient. However, with time going on, I have come to realize that what I thought before is seriouly wrong. Years ago,the students were obedient and not naughty. They all abided by the school or the class rules and finished the assignment on time and actively studied in the school. But nowadays, all this has greatly changed. Apprently they obey the discipline. Actually they don
't. In addition, for example, today you give them assignment, tomorrow when you check it, you will find that most of them don't finish it. This makes confused very much. And I was very angry with them. Usually I have been strict with them. I have exemplified so much and told them how important studying well is. I often think of this situation over and over again. As a result, I drew no conclusions. Why? I very often say to myself. I always feel this is a headache for me. How to cope with this problem is the key for me at present because I do want to teach them well. What do you think of this situation? Could you let... | |
| | Class magnifies things. | | Did you notice in class when you eat without getting caught by the teacher the candy or the food seems to be 10x more tasty than eating in recess?
Did you notice when you give out corny jokes you seem more likely to laugh than when your in dismissal?
Did you notice that when you hang out in class its like just a blast but when you hang out during lunch break its just ordinary?

| | AT&T Class Action Suit (I'm joining are you?) | | After Cursing out an AT&T representative and canceling my long distance services today I've decided to become a part of the class action suit against them for there unfair business practises. For over a year I've been having bogus long distance calls to cities I've never even heard of and Definitely don't know anyone there. Even calls to Canada and some other place where they speak "FRENCH" on my bill and all they tell me is "Well maybe the lines are crossed", and I tell them "WELL MAYBE, YOU BETTER SEND SOMEONE TO FIX THAT $HIT". Then to add insult to injury I found that they were charging me long distance fees for calls to my same "AREA CODE". Now I don't care who you are, there's no way you can explain to me that if my area code is (773) and the number I'm calling has the same area code, that I'm making a long distance call. I'd advise everyone within the sound of my Keyboard to look at your phone bills and check for those little discrepancies because if you think about it, if they steal a nickle from each of there billions of customers then imagine how much they're getting, which is why they're getting sued in the first place. | |

| Existing Customer Equals - SECOND CLASS CITIZEN! | | It just enrages me the way some companies throw all the tempting deals to use their services, Comcast and ADT Alarm System, comes to mind!!![em]angry[/em].
This discussion is the first rant I have ever posted so here's my story.
I had to replace my sliding glass door. It was broken and had to be removed which meant disconnecting the ADT alarm device (just a tiny little box). I called ADT informed them to ignore any signal from that area and I would call them back when the new door was in place and run a check to make sure the alarm was correctly placed back on the door.
This was done and ADT ran a test but the alarm was not working. Now they say they will need to send a tech out to glue to little box correctly on the door!. I say that will be OK.....however then the ADT person tells me it will cost $114.00. I went into orbit. I have had their system for 13 years how is it possible to charge me that much. I check out their Internet promotion and find they are offering a brand new system for $99.00 PLUS a $100.00 gift card. Now that sounds really good so the next day I call them back and tell them I wanted that promotion. OK everything was fine until...they found out I was an... | |
| | For all those who have died in class waiting for the bell to ring | | This is for the people who like to go to the school but don't like the study and learn part of it! and can't wait till the break time . And for those who fall asleep in the class bcoz of boring lectures .

| Did you ever fall asleep during a class in school? | | I had my share of good teachers who could make the class interesting. Then I had a few teachers that gave long, winding lectures that had little to no point other than eating up class time and they were boring. While I do not recall falling asleep, there were times where I was nodding off. Others around me did succumb to sleeping and it is very amusing, especially when the teacher goes on with their lecture like nothing happened. I think some of these teachers really missed their calling. They should be recording those lectures and selling them to people who have trouble going to sleep. They would make a fortune. So, were there any times where you drifted to sleep at school? Looking forward to reading your responses. | |

In my class, no, any of those did not came true, I think those were merely dreams. Almost all my classmates now became nurses or call center agents, dthe jobs that were not mentioned back then.
