Talk about the Hurricane music that you love here!| Hurricane 2010 | | This discussion will center on everyones outlook for the hurricane season
of 2010. Everyone here can describe bad or good they think the hurricanes of 2010 will be. In my research and opinion, I believe the east coast of the United
States will be in for a bad storm season this year. The northeastern U.S. states had better batton down the hatches.
| | What does the future hold for Ana "The Hurricane" Julaton? | | The recent title fight between Ana "the hurricane" Julaton and Lisa "Bad News" Brown for the WBO Super Bantamweight belt in women's boxing showed that experience is an important factor in boxing. Lisa won by a unanimous decision in the lopsided bout. Although Lisa has control of the fight, Ana never gave up and showed her guts and determination. She kept coming in and showed aggressiveness throughout the fight. She was never intimidated even if the ring physician had wanted to stop the fight due to a deep cut she suffered from an accidental head butt. She continued the fight until the end even if blood was already oozing out from her head. Despite the lost, Ana showed us what it takes to be a boxer. Ana is still young and hopefully learned her lessons well from the fight. She has what it takes to be a champion: the right attitude, discipline and determination. It's just a matter of time. | |

| | Have you ever experienced a Hurricane? | | I have and the experience had my nerves on the edge. Luckily for us we did not suffer any major damages both in Ivan and Dean. To hear that howling wind outside and hear pieces of our neighbour's roofs tearing off or to see the fruit trees in and around the yard snapping like twigs and watch pieces of zinc flying in all direction it was the most fascinating and frightening sight. It is at times like these when you realise how vulnerable you are because there is nothing you can do about a Hurricane than ride it out and hope you survive. At least we get ample time to prepare but even as we are prepared, we can never be fully ready for the unslaut of nature's fury. one of my neighbours was not so lucky. She died as a result of injuries sustained during Hurricane Ivan when roofing materials from a house next door came crashing through her living room window hitting her in the chest. She did not last a day. The question is, can we ever be ready? What was your experience like if you have experienced a Hurricane? | |
| | | Hurricane Katrina: 4 years later. | | It's been 4 years since hurricane katrina made landfall on the US gulf coast. Prs. Obama marked this day by talking about the continuing recovery of New Orleans. Why is it that all the cities that were hit harder by Katrina, and then hit by Hurricane Rita were fully recovered long ago?More money was sent to New Orleans than has ever been spent on any disaster area in the history of the US. More money has been spent on New Orleans than every other city hit by Katrina and Rita combined. Yet New Orleans is the city that isn't recovered yet?Today marks another 4 year anniversary. 4 years ago, Mayor Nagin committed the biggest act of mass murder in the history of the United States. Mayor Nagin refused to follow the New Orleans Comprehensive Emergency Management plan. He did follow it as far as evacuations, but after the hurricane went through, no assessments were done on the area before he gave the "all clear" and released people back to their homes. Then the levies and floodwalls broke.Over 700 deaths occured, most of whome died as a result of the flooding, not the hurricane. The people of New Orleans rewarded Nagin for his acts... | |
| | Are you in the path of Hurricane Bill? | | I'm looking at Storm Pulse
[http://www.stormpulse.com/] and their saying Hurricane Bill is now a Category 2 after going over Bermuda with wind speeds up to 100mph and all I can think is man, I wish I could be at the beach. The hurricane is off the coast of us but turning away now but I imagine we'll get our share of rain. The last time we had a hurricane come close I remember big gusts of wind that came and went, even had a big branch fall right in front of us on the road and the rain was very fine but steady. I think it'll be fun to take the girls outside in their rain coats (away from the trees though) and let them splash around. What do you expect to get from Hurricane Bill?
| | Its getting to be Hurricane season again.... | | Have you been watching the weather lately?? There are a few hurricane/tropical storms they are watching now and a couple that might turn into some pretty big hurricanes.[em]blink[/em]Are you in the path of hurricanes?? Have you been recently affected by a hurricane?? My hubby works for FEMA and he has been watching the weather channel and there website for the last week or two to see what is brewing up in the lakes... since this is that time of year again. If a hurricane was to come to your area...would you evacuate?? Have you ever stayed home during a hurricane and stuck it out?? How bad was it??[em]shocked[/em]re he gave the "all clear" and released people back to their homes. Then the levies and floodwalls broke.Over 700 deaths occured, most of whome died as a result of the flooding, not the hurricane. The people of New Orleans rewarded Nagin for his acts of murder by re-electing him. | |
| | 5 years ago today: I rode through Hurricane Charley | | 5 years ago, category 4 hurricaneCharley rushed through the state of Florida at an amazing speed of 28 mph. I was far inland, near Orlando, but it moved so fast it was still a hurricane when it crossed my area, with sustained winds of 90-100 mph. A weak tornado, an EF0, passed within 100 feet of my house and knocked down 2 big oak trees. It was kind of scary at the time, but Category 1 hurricanes are nothing compared to the devastationKatrina left in New Orleans. The damage done at our house included a destroyed shed, tons of green leaves and branches every where, power out for 7 days, and the loss of a refrigerator full of food. Looking back it was an inconvenient but kind of exciting experience for me.I have been through 3+ tropical storms since then but no more hurricanes.Learn more about Charley here: http://cimss.ssec.wisc.edu/satmet/modules/wild_weather/charley/charley.htmlHave you ever been through a tropical storm, a hurricane, or just a tornado? | |
| | Hurricane Felicia the 3rd Huricane to form this year? | | It seems Felicia is heading to Hawaii. Could this the next hurricane to hit Hawaii since 2003 and 1992? I live in Hawaii and if the hurricane comes, I might have to board up my apartment or find a public shelter. What do you guys think? Will this be another Katrina or another fluke? | |
