| | Pedro Pàramo - Juan Rulfo | | I have another of my boring books suggestions topics[em]rasp[/em]This time it's a Mexican book...i am not sure how it would be to read it in English or any other language than spanish honestly because i was lucky enough to read the original and Im not sure any translation could do it any kind of justice...but it's a book, and it's been translated and it's probably one of the most amazing books I've ever read...Pedro Pàramo -by Juan RulfoIn brief, Juan Preciado promised to his dying mother to go and find his father, Pedro Pàramo (Pàramo in Spanish means deserted land...and Pedro has it's origin in the latin word for Stone...the name itself has alot to say on the character)...Juan leaves to go to Comala, where his father is supposed to live, to meet him...but once there he starts to live very weird encounters and adventures...we meet all the inhabitants of the town which is actually deserted...until we realize that those speaking are nothing else but...the ghosts of the inhabitants...and that at around mid book, Juan is dead too and interacts with the other characters since he is a ghost like them... We get to learn the story of each of... | |
| | | I saw VOLVER by Pedro. it was very good. did u see it? | | At the recent mumbai international film festival, i saw Volver by Pedro. It was too good. Pedro as director has a very good art of story telling. Very different. His characters linger in ur mind long after u leave the cinema house. Penelope Cruz gives an outstanding performance, Sure she got nominated for oscars!
One thing i noted very distinctly of this movie is its simplicity of its environment, its characters, its language. All seem to make u fall in love with them! Volver points out to the simple things in life in a very different way. it gives us the new perspective to see life. it gives a new dimension to cinema!
As i always believe - 'Cinema is born out of life & Vice-verca!!!
| | Pedro says rehab is on schedule | | Seeing Pedro Martinez in his home white uniform Friday was like a mirage for the Mets. Coming off rotator-cuff surgery, Martinez represents a distant oasis of salvation, a hazy vision months away from morphing into something more concrete. All the Mets can cling to now is the hope that Martinez someday will become his Cy Young self again. The same can be said of Martinez, who is trying to come back from the most debilitating injury of his brilliant 15-year career.
Even with all the weightlifting and resistance training, all the cardio work and agility drills, since his surgery last October, Martinez has yet to perform the basic task of climbing a mound and throwing a baseball. That's how painfully slow his rehabilitation process is, but by next week, Martinez might get the go-ahead to play catch. Martinez said Friday that his arm "is doing great" and that he "should be back by the predicted time," which the Mets have targeted as mid-July.
| | | Relocating to a new home | | This is one final move for the three of us: my wife Marissa, our son Immanuel Genesis or Geeboy, and me. When Geeboy was yet to be born, we lived in a very small apartment home in Cupang, Muntinlupa. Then when our living condition was getting worse (the nearby creek was a health hazard because of its bad odor), we decided to transfer to a more spacious and yet cheaper apartment unit in San Pedro, Laguna, in the same subdivision as my sister's. That's where Geeboy successfully formed in her mom's womb (good environment did help) after 3 years of waiting. Four months into motherhood, I sent Marissa home in Ibaan, Batangas to ensure she would have good pregnancy. After she delivered Geeboy, we decided to stay in town. We lived in her family's house in barangay Pangao for more than 2 years, until we were able to build a small house (actually a kitchen with rooms for expansion) adjacent to that of my family's. So here comes the period of adjustment. It is as if we've only been recently married, while in fact, we will celebrate our sixth anniversary this year. This is the real thing as far as building a family is concerned. I have to make sure we have money to spend for our needs, and... | |
| | Henry Presence is no longer needed in Barcelona | | Some people get highly offended when i say that Henry presence is no longer needed in Barcelona but this is through as age is no longer on his side, if we can remember is days in Arsenal when he use to run like Usain Bolt and the skills i can compare with the great Zidane but all these are no more today. I will be happy if this man can give the little boys the chance to show there talent as seen in the Lucky Pedro and Vibrant Jeffrin. So friend what is your stand on this issue? | |
