Talk about the Supertramp music that you love here! | | Crisis, what Crisis? | | This post is started under the same name as the famous Supertramp ablum and title cut. In case you wondered. It deals with what I feel is a breakdown in the social fabric of America, and possibly other parts of the Western world as well. So is there a crisis, I ask? Or is this a positive and wonderful transition to the post-post modern age? Is information and technology transforming us into better people, with more social cohesion, or one that is rapidly declining into chaos? We know that there is financial crisis from Russia to the United States, from China to Australia. But, is it going to eventually turn out that we are more giving, kinder, gentler, and live a more orderly and decent life? If so, then we might as well weather the bit of hardship we have to endure. After all, we're supposed to be the most intelligent of the animal kingdom. We've elected a man here in the U.S. who seems to be intelligent and compassionate. He cares for both the poor and the rich, though there is some question as to whether or not he cares for the middle class, as we will end up paying the majority of the taxes imposed after the stimulus money runs out, and we find ourselves in greater... | |
| | The most genius song ever! | | Which song do you think is the most genius song ever? For me, the song from Queen entitled Bohemian Rhapsody and Paranoid Android from Radiohead are the most genius songs ever. Well, I'm supposed to choose one, but I can't decide. They both amazing! What do you think? | |
| | What was your favorite concert? | | I was going to concerts in my late teens and early 20's, so I got to see Fleetwood Mac on the Rumours tour, Supertramp for Breakfast in America, and Dan Folgelberg for The Innocent Age. These were my favorite concerts. I considered them life changing experiences - what were yours? | |
| | | What is your all time Favorite group or band? | | Myself I have a few like SuperTramp, Savage Garden, the thing is, it isn't actually the group or band its more of the songs they produce that counts for me. I have many many songs that I enjoy from many different artists. Like "Conviction of the Heart" That song says alot if you hear the words. "I'm Alive" another good song with the words that work for me, you can actually listen to that one from my profile here. EnjoyOver the years there has been Many artists that have put out some outstanding music, do you have some favorite's to share?[em]thumbup[/em] | |
| | How many myolotians watched the Diana concert? | | Which countries was it shown in and who was your favourite/least favourite artists?Duran Duran were part good/part embarassing - part of the band seem to be turning into Mick&Keef via Aerosmith, but Wild Boys=good tune.Tom Jones, Rod Stewart and Elton John (sorry Elton) were all past their best.Kanye West was alright after his first song but only did short bits of Diamonds from Seara Leone & Jesus Walks and stopped just as he was getting good.P Diddy did I'll be missing you complete with deidications to Diana and asking the crowd to join in/wave their hands if they'd ever lost some one - cheasy as heck but stil got teary eyed.Rodger Hodson from Supertramp looked at first like it was going to be terrible but when he got into it it was really special - doing a medley from Breakfast In America & reclaiming his songs. When he wento into "take a look at my girlfriend" from the title track I just grinned thinking of totally confused Gym Class Heros fans wondering why an old bloke was singing "their" song:-)- then followed it with Give a Little Bit, asking the crowd to sing along because it was a song about love & what the concert was all about. | |
| | Live Albums | | A lot of people don't care for them but I have a certain fondness for "live" albums. Admittedly some of them are cheesy and even boring but the best of them can be a great deal of fun...especially if the musicians are drawing energy and inspiration from the live audience (and vice versa.)The live albums I come back to listen to on a regular basis include: "The Isle of View" (say it out loud a couple of times and you'll understand the title pun) by The Pretenders (an acoustic set with Chrissie Hynde's glorious voice front and center...includes a gorgeously spare version of "Kid")"Before the Flood" by Bob Dylan and The Band (a grand chronicle of a potent early 70's tour by the incomparable "song and dance man" and his kindred spirits in the legendary Band.)"The 30th Anniversary Concert Celebration" by Bob Dylan and Friends (an all-star "Bob Fest"[to use Neil Young's words] with a lot of cool versions of Dylan songs including a killer take on "My Back Pages" featuring Bob, Roger McGuinn, Tom Petty, Eric Clapton, Neil Young, and George Harrison and a rousing "Emotionally Yours" by the O'Jays.)"Running on Empty" by Jackson Browne (a delightfully ramshackle... | |
| | What was the first record you bought? | | I mean that you went out and bought with your own money. Do you still have it? Do you still like the song?Mine was Ain't No Sunshine by Michael Jackson in 1972. Yes I still have it and yes I still like the song although Bill Withers version is much better. | |
